Starting of semi solids
My Little one is 5 and half month old and exclusively breast feed Because of corona lock down am unable to consult my pediatrician.. shall I start with semi solids for her. What all I can start with for the initial week.. I will continue feeding also.

You can start your baby on semi solids, initially rice based porridge and then moong dal , khichadi, steamed apple, banana, sooji. No salt no sugar in baby food. Remember not to make the porridge very diluted such that it slips from spoon. Baby might take 2-3 spoons or half /full bowl. Quantity is decided by the baby, don’t force feed. Remember until one year of age baby gets nutrition mainly from breast milk so continue feeding as usual.

Initial ly start with dal water once a day for 2-3 days,then u can give boiled and mashed moong dal,sabudana kheer, boiled and mashed potatoes,cerelac etc initial one solid feed in the morning and slowy over 1 week giving twice a day.U can also give water along with the solid feed Introduce one single food item at one time so that baby gets to know the taste of each new food item.

If the baby is gaining adequate weight,  u can still exclusively breastfeed for 15 more days. Start semsolid rice based diet cooked and smashed at home during day time once a day. Only few spoons. Wait for baby to accept. Continue Breastfeeds. Don't overload the baby. Go slow

once rice is digested,give one such feed once a day only. Go for home based idli one day. u can start formula food if u wish to
