I have a slip Disc and my physio have taught me exercises. I do it 2 times.
1. Should i do exercises just after waking up from bed?
2. When to use hot pad after or before exercises.
I do exercise empty stomach at 11 Am and 6 PM and use hot pad after.

You should do your exercises in the morning after your daily chores in the empty stomach.
You can use the hot pad after exercises to relieve muscle soreness.
you can perform these exercises anytime. there is no problem. and if you are still in pain the you can apply hot pack before exercise for 10 minutes. and if not then try to avoid hot pack.
Please do exercises before getting up, as you back would be stiff with prolonged lying...
My suggestion is that you could use heat before exercises. But opinions could vary....
