Sitting on a stool without back support will lead to slouch and increase in pain. Sitting upright for 2&3 minutes as part of strengthening the back is okay.

First tone up your back muscles. Then ask your physio . who will guide you how to get up from bed , How to pick up something from the floor, etc. Once your muscles are back in tone and strength then you can resume all activities gradually.
