I wake up in the middle of the night despite having slept on time. Even if I sleep late, I still end up waking up in the middle of the night. When I finally wake up in the morning, my jaw is clenched, like I do it in my sleep. I've been going through this issue for well over a year now. I'm scared.

Waking in the middle of the night for more than a year and then noticing your jaw clenched in the morning sounds frightening and exhausting.
Often, the fear of another disturbed night itself keeps the nervous system on alert.
The good news is that sleep difficulties can be worked with rather than simply endured.
We can use CBT-based sleep strategies to change the worry–arousal–poor sleep cycle and help your body relearn a safer relationship with sleep.
If you’d like, we can work through this together and build a practical sleep plan.

Waking up at night with jaw clenching can be distressing. Stress and anxiety can contribute, but persistent jaw clenching may also be related to sleep-related bruxism. Try relaxation/breathing exercises before bed and keep a sleep-stress diary. Since this has continued for over a year, consider consulting a psychologist/doctor to rule out physical, mental or sleep-related causes.
Waking up frequently and experiencing a tightly clenched jaw can feel very frightening.

I suggest scheduling a session with Dr. Rupali Mohbe, a psychologist. You can book an online or offline appointment via BIRDYME. Her office is located at 208, CENTRAL, Sangath IPL, Motera, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Health Tips
Before sleeping, apply a warm compress to your jaw muscles and gently massage them. This physical relaxation routine helps reduce subconscious nocturnal clenching and calms your nervous system.
Waking up during the night and clenching your jaw can be related to stress, anxiety or sleep disturbances. It may help to focus on reducing the anxiety around waking up at night
It is completely natural to feel scared when sleep disruptions and physical symptoms like a clenched jaw persist for over a year, as your mind and body are simply trying to signal that they are holding onto unaddressed stress. When we carry tension or anxiety, it often manifests physically during sleep leading to middle of the night awakenings and involuntary muscle tightness so feeling overwhelmed by this cycle is a very valid response. Counseling can offer a safe, supportive space to explore the root causes of this underlying stress, help you understand the connection between your thoughts and physical reactions, and equip you with practical tools to ease your mind and help your body relax before sleep.
It seems to be phobia or anxiety which is leading to clenching of the jaw or grinding of the teeth and ultimately affecting your sleep.
It needs to be treated asap otherwise it may get complicated and can affect your personal and social life.
It can be well treated with counseling sessions and homeopathic medicine effectively and without any side effects.
It needs to be treated in a holistic approach for complete recovery.
You need an expert psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.

Waking up repeatedly at night along with jaw clenching for over a year can be associated with stress or anxiety, but it can also have physical or sleep-related causes. It would be better not to assume it is anxiety without an assessment.
Next Steps
You can consider booking a session with me for a psychological evaluation. We can explore your sleep pattern, stress levels and anxiety symptoms and understand what may be contributing to this. Since the jaw clenching has been persistent, a dentist or doctor can also assess it for bruxism or other physical causes.
There is no reason to panic about this. Often, due to excessive worry or constant problems, some components of the body change. Once we understand it, we can easily deal with this problem.
PTSD or anxiety disorder has to be ruled out, bedtime routine like taking warm shower, wearing loose clothes, keep yourself ventilated and small walk around neighbourhood. Practise these steps, and let’s see whether there is progress or not. Take care.
