Do consult with an orthopaedic specialist.
Next Steps
1. Immobilize the Arm: Keep the arm supported close to your body. If you have a cloth or a scarf, you can fashion a temporary sling to take the weight off your shoulder—this will significantly cut down the pain. 2. Apply Ice: Wrap an ice pack or a bag of frozen vegetables in a thin towel and place it on the painful trapezius/shoulder area for 15–20 minutes to help bring down the swelling. 3. Do Not Force Movement: Do not try to stretch, massage, or force your hand and arm to work through the pain.

Shoulder and trapezius pain following a fall from a scooter that has been worsening and is now affecting hand function needs urgent evaluation — please do not delay seeing a doctor. After a fall from a vehicle, especially landing on the shoulder or outstretched arm, the most important things to rule out are: a clavicle (collarbone) fracture — one of the most common injuries from exactly this type of fall, which causes pain in the shoulder-trapezius region and limits arm use; an acromioclavicular (AC) joint injury (sprain or dislocation); a rotator cuff tear; or a brachial plexus nerve injury — which can explain why you cannot use your hand properly. The fact that hand function is compromised is a significant clue — it suggests the injury may be affecting nerves or the shoulder joint itself, not just the muscle. Right now: rest the arm completely, avoid lifting or using it, support it in a sling or by tucking the forearm against your chest. Take Paracetamol 650mg for pain. Apply ice wrapped in cloth (not directly) to the painful area for 15 minutes every few hours. Do not apply deep heat or massage a post-accident injury before imaging.
Next Steps
Go to an Orthopaedic surgeon or hospital emergency today. An X-ray of the shoulder and clavicle is the first essential investigation to rule out a fracture. Depending on findings, an MRI may also be needed to assess tendons and nerves. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
