Itching that starts every night after dinner and lasts 3-4 hours for three years is most often chronic urticaria, and the food link is usually not a true allergy but histamine-rich foods acting as triggers - fermented items, leftover or reheated non-veg, prawns, tomato, brinjal, pickles, alcohol. Chronic itching in a 35-year-old also needs thyroid disease, liver or kidney dysfunction, anaemia, diabetes and worm infestation ruled out. Get CBC with eosinophil count, LFT, RFT, TSH, HbA1c, urine routine and a stool test done; serum IgE and anti-TPO are useful add-ons. Practically: start a daily non-sedating antihistamine (cetirizine or levocetirizine) taken about 2 hours before dinner for 4 weeks rather than only when itching starts - that is how urticaria is actually controlled - and keep a simple food diary. Go to a hospital at once if you ever get lip or tongue swelling, throat tightness or breathlessness with the itching. Bring these reports to a consult with me on Practo and we will get this under control instead of you managing it every night.

Do an allergen panel test to find out what you’re allergic to.An allergy specialist will help you with that

Add Your Opinion 3 saal se har raat dinner ke baad severe itching hona proper evaluation deserve karta hai. Iske peeche dry skin ya allergy ke alawa liver, kidney, thyroid, diabetes, iron deficiency ya medicines se related causes bhi ho sakte hain. Isliye sirf allergy maan kar treatment lena theek nahi hoga.
Next Steps
Next Steps Aap physician ya dermatologist se consult karein. Initial tests mein CBC, LFT, KFT (urea/creatinine), fasting sugar/HbA1c, TSH aur iron profile/ferritin karwana useful rahega. Agar initial reports normal aati hain aur itching continue karti hai, to symptoms aur examination ke according further tests jaise hepatitis screening, HIV testing, ultrasound abdomen ya skin-related investigations ki zarurat decide ki ja sakti hai.
Health Tips
Helpful Tips / Word of Caution Filhaal very hot water se bathing, strong soaps/perfumes aur unnecessary medicines avoid karein. Bath ke baad fragrance-free moisturiser regularly use karein. Agar itching ke saath yellow eyes/skin, dark urine, unexplained weight loss, fever, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes ya significant skin rash ho, to consultation delay na karein.
