Self harm.
I have a history of self harm. In last 5-6 years I kept it in control. I don't even keep anything sharp. Even my  kitchen knives are serrated. But in last one month I have started doing it again. I don't want to. I have old scars. And I have to keep them hidden all the time as it's embarrassing when people stare and start being judgemental. But if I don't do it, I feel like my heart will burst out. Physical pain helps my mind to divert it's attention and remain calm. What should I do

Hello, These symptoms may be part of personality issues. The symptoms include feeling of emptiness, anger issues, impulsivity, difficulty in controlling anger, fear that you will be left all alone, impulses to harm yourself etc. These symptoms with time starts affecting social and working life. These symptoms can be taken care off by psychological therapy and medications.

Adding on I would suggest along with medications if you start with therapy to be specific Dialectic Behaviour Therapy you will get a better understanding plus skills necessary to manage those diverse complex and seemingly uncontrollable emotions of yours and especially the self harming behaviour.

Keep away things that you use to harm yourself. Be in presence of someone break from your privacy when you have urge to harm. Talk to someone essentially to vent out not nessiarly for a solution.
