Hello
Your father shows symptoms of nerve impingement. He should take heat therapy at lower back, interferential therapy and lumbar traction for nerve to get relaxed. Then strengthen the back muscles for preventing reoccurrence....

Sciatica is best treated with TENS, Stretching, Mobility, Strengthening Exercises. Correct your shoes as per your occupation which may involve excessive standing or excessive sitting. Depending on the Acuteness or Chronicity of your condition Ice Compression or Heat Therapy will be managed.
The condition here is nerve compression n pain n in this case physiotherapy is going to be benificial. Please visit physio therapy clinic for electro therapy (SWD, IFT, LTrac) followed by exercise therapy. Supplement VitB12.
Hi, go to a physio who does manipulation etc...he will do neural flossing alongwith using pain relief modalities for 1st few days. Then exercises will b taught, it has to b done for 4-6 months.
For sciatica cupping is not recommended, its alternative therapy,
You can take him to physiotherapy clinic and through IFT+US therapy for 2 weeks the pain will be reduced completely.
Your father's symptoms shows that he might have been suffering from sciatica.
Cupping therapy doesn't come under physiotherapy. Its a kind of alternative medicine.
In physiotherapy electro therapy and exercise therapy are given for sciatica.
First he should take Intermittent pelvic traction and Interferential therapy followed by back strengthening and stretching exercises.

Hi,
Both will help. Additional to this, he can start doing Sciatic nerve mobilization technique (NMT). This technique will help to mobilize the nerve at the place of compression. Learn this exercises with the help of Physiotherapist.
Greetings from Rid of Pain Physiotherapy
If your father is suffering from sciatica, then there are multiple tools to treat the condition. According to me first need to align the bones if aligenment fault exist. Along with this need to work on the muscles which are overworking or underworking. For this physio can choose any tool like cupping, IASTM, MFR, Mobilisation, Dry Needling or any other module of manual therapy. Also acc to this exercise are prescribed.
Only electrotherapy(TENS US) will work but result may be in later phase. For fast n complete recovery proper assessment n treatment is needed. So it can be according the choice of Physio which one he/she is using.
For sciatica pls take electrical modalities treatment like lumbar traction along with IFT for 2 weeks followed by spinal strengthening exercises for 2 months.
Dry cupping is not recommended for Radiating pain. He is getting sciatica pain mainly due to compression of Sciatic nerve in the lower back which runs down to both the legs. A physiotherapist visit is must, for the correct diagnosis .
If it's Sciatica i.e the pain radiating from hip to legs initially he can put TENS to stimulate the nerve which travels across your skin as it causes the production of endorphin which are natural pain killers. Once the pain subside the correct exercises are recommended to prevent further injury .
