Renal agenesis
Hi my 17months old daughter is born with a single kidney ( renal agenesis). Right kidney is absent and left kidney is healthy with no other complications. We get a scan done every 6 months and in her scan that is done at 14 months of age showed the left kidney size was in 95th percentile with no other abnormal findings. We were suggested by our pediatrician nephrologist that it's growing big as a compensation to the absent kidney. I am here to find if this size at this age is normal. Her blood values turns to be normal except her calcium which is 11.2 . She seems to be very active and has no other complaints at all. Please suggest.

Prevalence of unilateral renal agenesis is approximately 1 in about 1000 people. So don’t worry.. other kidney tries to compensate for the extra load.. you need to be in regular follow up with a nephrologist to observe kidney function to pick up early changes if any develops
