Remove rod in wrist installed 20year ago
I have rod in my wrist which was installed 20 years ago. Now, in winters it is giving me pain sometimes. I can't lift heavy objects. I'm unable to do weight training in gym. I want to know if I can surgically remove this rod now? Wheather there will be any complications of the surgery? and after how many months can I do my daily activities? I do have diabetes and I'm 51 years old.

Yes you can get it removed. We need to get a X-ray of the wrist region . Also you need to control your diabetes before surgery

Hello Kindly provide the x-ray with the implant. Since you're diabetic there can be complications like infections and delayed healing of the surgical site.Sometimes removing any implant after a long time can be difficult so you should be aware of it.
