Hi The trauma has affected you deeply. You often have thoughts and flashbacks of the trauma. To feel better consult a psychologist and talk about the trauma. With a psychologist you can talk about your thoughts, feelings, and emotions associated with the trauma. You are feeling upset to an extent that you are not able to sleep well. You will require a therapeutic space to process thoughts and emotions and heal. With time you will heal. Be kind to yourself and treat yourself.

This has triggered your subconscious fears and the fears are demanding a release and the fact that they are not released comes up as anxiety. The overthinking is coming from the worry and the grief of what has happened. We will have to create a safe space for you to process this trauma emotionally to put you back to your wellness and confident self. You’re brave and beautiful. Stay

Divert your attention. Occupy your mind with something else. Maybe read a book, watch Youtube videos, or play a mobile game. Do anything to help take your mind off negative thoughts or excessive overthinking. Practice mindfulness. Focus on the present moment by sensing and feeling your surroundings. Grab the nearest object and fidget with it until your mind drifts off into a blank state.

Hi... Trauma changes the brain in a manner which is hard to undo later. It is always better to seek therapy for such issues early. Try to understand this, your subconscious/unconscious mind is still processing events (physical/mental) based on the scars caused by that trauma. Some people heal with time and some find it difficult to heal those scars on their own. This varies for the same person in different phases/incidences in his life. We tend to derive strength by recovering on our own but it is not always the right approach. Try to find a good therapist around you and be consistent with your therapy. It usually takes 6-8 months to 1 year to completely overcome the set back and trauma caused by such an event.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Changes and Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required.
