"Thank you for reaching out to me and sharing your concerns. Overthinking is a common symptom of GAD. However, it can be difficult to deal with these symptoms without the right help. Since you have been diagnosed with it, I urge you to seek therapy that will give you customised tools to help deal with your anxiety. Here are some general tips to help deal with anxiety: 1. As soon as you notice your thoughts are rushing, scream STOP to yourself and try to focus on the present. Try to let go of the past regrets and future worries. Yes, it is easier said than done, but by focusing on the resent voluntarily in the beginning will train your brain slowly, in a way your overthinking slows down. 2. Worry Time! Set a fixed time of 15-20 minutes daily for overthinking and worrying. Tell yourself to worry only when it's the time and not before or after the alarm goes off. This will help you acknowledge your thoughts and also not waste all day behind them. 3. Mindfulness Meditation Sit comfortably at a place and focus on your breath. Be in the present. If there are any thoughts coming in your mind, let them pass by, but do not engage with them. Focus on your breathing, how your body feels and how the air is passing by.
Next Steps
Reflect on your thoughts
Health Tips
If things still feel overwhelming, it would be advisable to talk to a therapist.
