C usually root canal procedure requires 2-3 sittings. But if the infection is not too advanced then can be done in 1 sitting.

There are two types of root canal treatments. (i) single sitting root canal treatment (ii) multiple siting root canal treatment Single sitting root canal is prefered when you donot have an underlying infection but only pain. Multiple sitting root canal is done when there is an infection in the tooth along with pain so that the infection is drained out in the initial visits and filled in the final sitting.
Next Steps
consult a dentist(endodontist) and make sure you know if there is an underlying infection or not.
