Rabies survive only in a living warm blooded organisms.As it's a fragile virus won't survive much out side living organisms. Dried saliva or any other excreta will kill the virus. Rabies is transmitted from a rabid animal. An animal can shed the virus in saliva 10 days before it exhibits symptoms. In other words, animals shedding virus in saliva will exhibit signs of rabies within 10 days and will succumb to it. As a precaution any bite or scratch from any wildlife should be considered as potential risks and need to be consulted and vaccinated.If needed, anti-rabies antibody need to be injected around the site.

Hello, No, rabies virus is not always present in the saliva of a mongoose. Like any other animal, a mongoose would only carry nd transmit rabies if it is infected nd actively showing symptoms of the disease.
As for dried droppings,,rabies virus does not survive in dried feces or in the environment. It is a fragile virus that quickly dies outside a living host, especially when exposed to sunlight, air, nd dry conditions.
