The correct dose is 1 ml, irrespective of severity of bite. You said that you have completed all doses, which means it has been around 28 days from bite. Is it possible to know if dog is alive and well ( understanding that it is difficult to observe a stray dog)? In what conditions did do g bite you, was it unproved, was dog salivating excessively, did it bite other people as well) Such things will determine next course of action
Next Steps
If dog is alive and well at this point in time, there is no need to worry. If it is not possible to observe or dog is unwell/died, get your antibody titre done and consult a specialist
Everything is over. A full course of Anti-rabies vaccine has been taken. Now you should forget about it for the time being. Get your Anti-rabies antibodies titer after two months. That will tell you whether the dose was adequate or not.
Hello!
I understand your concern. Since you mentioned:
You had a scratch from a stray dog without bleeding (likely Category II exposure),
You completed all 5 doses on time,
You received 0.5 ml intramuscularly (IM) of Rabivax-S each time,
Let me clarify:
About the Dose:
Rabivax-S is an inactivated rabies vaccine.
The standard intramuscular (IM) dose is 1.0 ml for adults, given on days 0, 3, 7, 14, and 28.
0.5 ml IM is typically used in intradermal (ID) regimens or for certain pediatric use, not standard for adult IM schedule.
So, is 0.5 ml IM sufficient?
If the vaccine was intended for IM use, and you got only 0.5 ml IM, that is below the recommended adult dose.
This could potentially result in suboptimal protection, even though the schedule was completed on time.
Next Steps
What to do now:
Please consult a physician immediately, preferably from a center experienced in rabies PEP.
You may need a booster dose or re-vaccination depending on risk assessment.
Good news:
Your exposure was Category II (scratch without bleeding), which carries lesser risk than deep bites.
You acted quickly and completed vaccination.
But due to possible underdosing, medical advice is essential.
Health Tips
Keep observing the wound site and overall health. There’s still time to take corrective action.
You r right 1 ml is the dose, at the most it's a pattern half half in both arm but total dose is 1 ml.
It never depend on seviority. Dose is 1mlon 0, 3, 7,28.
Photo seen.
1 ml is the dose only.
You have to do one serological test as per that result it will be further evaluated whether you require further doses or it will be sufficient...kindly consult for this.
