For sleep, there are other alternatives such as zolpidem or melatonin combination and do not associated with such side effects. Along with it, I will advise you to make note of weight records weekly for assessment and drink plenty of water, add fluid and fibre rich diet as salad, fruits, avoid oily spicy food, do not keep fasting, small frequent meals, add dry fruit to your diet, fast food once a week, sound sleep, avoid sedentary life, make rule not go to bed just after meal, walk at least 10-15 min.Gradually taper down Quetiapine while monitoring your sleep and other symptoms, it will be good if under guidance of a doctor

Hello, Thank you for sharing your concerns. Quetiapine (Quitipin) is known to cause weight gain, even at lower doses, in some individuals. While it may help with sleep, the weight gain and other metabolic side effects can be concerning, especially if sustained long-term. Since sleep is your main concern and Nexito (escitalopram) is already being used for mood/anxiety, other non-weight gaining sleep aids can be considered. Possible alternatives include: a. Melatonin (low dose, 2-5 mg at night) b. Low-dose doxepin (3-6 mg), which is effective for sleep and has minimal metabolic impact c. Trazodone (25-50 mg) - commonly used as an off-label sleep aid d. Agomelatine – if available, can also help sleep with minimal weight effects e. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) - often more sustainable long-term
Next Steps
1. Consult another responsive psychiatrist, especially if current one is not available or helpful. 2. Ask about tapering off Quitipin gradually, not abruptly, to avoid withdrawal or rebound insomnia. 3. Discuss switching to non-weight gaining alternatives. 4. Consider a sleep diary and basic blood work (lipid profile, sugar, thyroid) to monitor health.
Health Tips
Please note, medication should only be adjusted or switched under a psychiatrist’s supervision.

Hello, it's good that your sleep has improved, but weight gain and other side effects with Quetiapine can be concerning for some individuals. There are alternative options for sleep aid that may have fewer side effects, but the right choice depends on your overall condition. I suggest consulting once in detail to assess your situation and guide you on safe alternatives or dose adjustments
