Question regarding colon cancer
So, since 2-3 weeks i am suffering from constipation and thin stools showed up lately. So my question was, as i read a post by another doctor who said if cancer was causing this, the stools will progressively get thinner and no chance of getting bulky stool. Then, 1. When I take psyllium husk, my stool bulk comes fine. 2. Some days I don't take husk yet my stool comes fine. Can cancer be ruled out in such cases? Or do I have to go for sigmoidoscopy mandatorily? Also, no cancer history in my family.

Your age and lack of family history of cancers goes against any possibility of it for the time being. Colonic cancers alternate between constipation and bloody stools when the growth initially obstructs the passage to cause constipation and then sloughing of the growth causing bleeding and allowing motions to pass through. Don't read too much between the lines on internet and show yourself to a qualified surgeon, let him examine your rectum and advise you suitably. You may get back for discussion here after that.

Every constipation is not colorectal carcinoma. Just consult a doctor let doctor take dicision about sigmoidoscopy after history and examination an other lab tests. Ruling out cancer or thinking it as a differential depends on history and other test, not only on family history.

Colon cancer doesn't necessarily presents in one way. You just have a regular case of constipation and loose stools are due to the longevity of constipation that you're having. It can be managed easily with some lifestyle modifications and medications. Consult at your convenience.
