Query regarding use vitamin supplements
My baby is 51 days old, exclusively formula-fed, and drinks about 90 mL every 2.5 hours. The pediatrician has prescribed Uprise D3 0.5 mL once daily and Bevon 0.5 mL once daily. Should I give both supplements? Could the vitamin D in the formula + Uprise D3 + Bevon result in excessive vitamin D intake? Please advise whether both supplements are necessary for an exclusively formula-fed baby.

Greetings Exclusively formula-fed infants usually receive sufficient vitamin D from their daily intake if consuming over 500 mL, reducing the general need for routine, heavy multi-supplementation. However, a combined prescription of Uprise D3 and Bevon drops could be intentionally selected by your pediatrician to treat a diagnosed or suspected micronutrient deficiency, or to provide additional support like zinc or specific B-vitamins found in Bevon. Simultaneously combining multiple vitamin-D-containing drops alongside fortified infant formula increases the cumulative risk of exceeding the safe upper limits for an infant.

Most Formulas Are Fortified With Vitamins . Check Formula Tin For Its Vit D Content . Formula-fed babies: Usually get enough vitamin D from infant formula, provided they drink at least 32 ounces (about 1 liter) or roughly 500ml to a quart of fortified formula daily. If they drink less than that amount, a 400 IU supplement is still needed. Mayo Clinic
