Hi Doctor's,
I have two queries, kindly help:
1. Is it safe to travel to the UK with a 6th month old baby ? or I should delay our plan. We will be there for a couple of years.
2. Can I give him the TCV and first Influenza vaccine at 5 months 10 days just before our travel ? Or it should be given only after completion of 180 days. My baby was born at 35th week.

Hello
Air travel is safe if Baby is otherwise healthy, feeding well, and has no chronic lung or heart disease, No recent illness (like cough, fever, or ear infection)
Born at 35 weeks — now corrected age is >4.5 months — so generally safe for flying.
Feed during take-off and landing to reduce ear pressure
Carry essential meds, warm clothes, diapers, and feeding supplies
Avoid travel if baby has active cold/cough or ear pain
It’s better to wait until baby completes 6 months. You can schedule both TCV and flu vaccine together any time after 6 months.

It’s safe to travel at 6 months of age by air - the baby would have received most of the primary doses of vaccines
Both influenza and typhoid vaccines are recommended after 6 months of chronological age - irrespective whether it’s a term or preterm baby. Since you are travelling to U.K. before this age, you may administer influenza vaccine in U.K. itself. With NHS registration you will get required vaccination in their clinic. I hope you have the NHS insurance already
Mostly, you will not require typhoid vaccination in U.K. Even tap water is potable over there. But whenever you travel to India you may take it here. Consider 2 weeks for the immunity to build up after any vaccine
Travel is generally safe for a 6-month-old infant if:
• Baby is healthy, gaining weight well, and has no active infections.
•All routine immunizations are up to date for age.
• Travel essentials (feeding supplies, clothes, meds, etc.) are well planned.
•Avoid crowded indoor places and maintain hygiene during flights.
Typhoid vaccine
•It is best to wait until completion of 6 months for optimal response and regulatory validity.
Influenza vaccine:
•Can be given from 6 months of age (as per IAP and CDC).
•Since your baby was born at 35 weeks, they are technically late preterm.
•Still, give at 6 months of chronological age, not corrected age.
