Hi.. Scaling uses Ultrasonic vibration and has Absolutely no harm on tooth structure, enamel, dentin or cementum.. It's frequency of vibration causes dislodgement of calculus ( dirt stuck on teeth over a long period ) only! Any dentist recommends scaling every 6 months to keep ur teeth and therefore ur gums healthy! Please go ahead and confidently get ur tooth cleaned at least once a year
Health Tips
Enamel is the hardest substance in the body... even if it was ten times weaker , still scaling can do no harm to it! Cheers!

Scaling removes tartar and saves your bone. Therefore you need to decide if you want to save microbe filled tartar or your bone/ teeth in your mouth.
Next Steps
Scaling should be done biannually. It can also be diagnostic of other conditions if you have rapid build up of tartar
Health Tips
Get your scaling done before inflammationstarts. Then you'll have less discomfort during the procedure.
