Pigmentation acne dark spots red marks
I have noticed some darker pigmented spots on my cheeks and small reddish bumps and pustule pus filled pimples which becomes spots painful on my cheeks on my forehead area noticed very light pigmentation, Based on a visual exam, do these appear to be Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), Melasma, or something else? I am concerned about my skin appearing dull and would like a professional assessment of my current skin health." Secondary Concern: Product Selection and Routine "I have recently started a basic routine of moisturizer and sunscreen at home. I am interested in adding a chemical exfoliant (like an AHA) or a brightening serum (like Vitamin C or Niacinamide). Given my skin type, which specific active ingredients would you recommend for my pigmentation? Are there any ingredients I should strictly avoid to prevent irritation or worsening the spots? How should I incorporate these into my routine (frequency and order) to ensure I don't damage my skin barrier

This is most consistent with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) secondary to acne, along with ongoing mild active acne. It does not look like melasma (which is usually more diffuse and symmetrical). The pigmentation is likely due to repeated inflammation from pimples. Helpful Tips / Words of Caution: • Avoid over-layering actives—start slowly to prevent irritation • Do not pick pimples → worsens pigmentation • Results for PIH take 6–12 weeks with consistency • Avoid harsh scrubs and frequent facials • If pigmentation is stubborn → procedures like chemical peels or lasers can be considered later under supervision You can consult with me via practo for detailed evaluation and treatment
