Is there any permanent non surgical cure for calcaneal spur? I had an injection in the heel once and there was relief, but again the pain has recurred.

In my opinion steroidal injections will not help much in this case.. u need to go for physiotherapy specially Ultrasound and laser machine will help reducing ur pain along with kinesio taping to support the calcaneum...followed by exs after reduction in pain.. do take few blood test like calciumvitamin d and vitamin. B12 with uric acid.. so that if they are deranged then u can take supplements to cover the levels in the body.. take care get well soon
Next Steps
Go for physiotherapy sessions

Hot fermentation is needed
Comfortable shoes with soft insole preferably take woodland hush puppies or doctors schol Bata shoes or sandles to have a less pressure on the feet
Calcaneal spurs normally dont need surgery. Inj is a temporary solution. Needed in Case of severe pain. Long term solution is exercises. Visit any physio or seek on internet searches.
Corticosteroid injection won't help in permanent cure of spur. There are some protocols of exercise and precaution to be followed. I have treated 100+ heel spur cases and found good recovery.
Next Steps
Find the good Physio who can guide you the exercises.
wear silicon heel pad under the shoes continuous.
for home use you can wear MCR slipper. But again this will support the spur for only pain. It won't heal until you start proper regime.
Health Tips
Remember Wrong Technique will increase the pain and the growth of spur. don't walk or stand on bare foot. TC
