Yes, it is possible NOT to develop a fistula, even after having two small perianal abscesses, especially in situations like yours.
From what you have described:
Both abscesses were small
They resolved quickly (within 3â4 days) with antibiotics
No surgical drainage was required
You have been completely symptom-free for 10 months
The small pinpoint opening healed on its own and has not recurred since May
All these points are reassuring signs.
A fistula usually develops when:
There is a deep or inadequately drained abscess
Persistent or repeated discharge continues
Pain, swelling, or opening keeps recurring
The infection tracks inward and forms a permanent channel
Since you have had no pain, discharge, swelling, or recurrent opening for many months, the likelihood of an active fistula at present is low.
However, it is also important to understand that:
Early or superficial abscesses can heal completely without forming a fistula
A fistula does not always appear immediately; sometimes it shows symptoms later
Many people who develop fistulas have ongoing symptoms, which you currently do not have
At this stage, no urgent intervention is indicated if you are asymptomatic. Still, a consultation can help:
Assess if there is any residual tendency
Identify predisposing factors like constipation, fissures, gut health, or immunity
Guide preventive care so recurrence can be avoided
From a holistic / homeopathic perspective, recurrent abscesses are often linked to local tissue resistance, gut health, and immune response. Addressing these factors early can help prevent future episodes and reduce anxiety about recurrence.
If you wish, you can opt for a non-invasive consultation to understand your individual risk and preventive options, even if you are currently symptom-free.
