Yes, parotitis, also known as mumps, is highly contagious. It's caused by the mumps virus and spreads through: 1. Direct contact with infected saliva, mucus, or urine. 2. Airborne transmission (coughing, sneezing). 3. Contaminated surfaces or objects.
Health Tips
1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids 2. Avoid Irritants: Spicy, acidic, or sharp foods 3. Soft Foods: Opt for smooth, easy-to-swallow foods.

Yes, parotitis maybe contagious if it is caused by mumps virus. However mumps usually causes bilateral parotitis. If your swelling is still unilateral, it can be due to blocked duct.
Next Steps
kindly consult a ent surgeon or a general surgeon for a complete oral examination to evaluate the cause of your parotitis
Health Tips
it is better to maintain personal protective hygiene for you and your family members, if the cause is infectious
