Painful root canal!
Hi. I’m having root canal for my lower wisdom tooth. Today was my 1st sitting. It was too painful even after giving me oral anesthesia twice. It’s my 2nd sitting after 3 days. Will there be pain in 2nd sitting as well? I’m scared to death. I feel like my heart will fail.

Pain control can be achieved by adequate anesthesia. Talk to your dentist. It should not hurt so much

Root canal filling is usually accompanied by some pain,,I hope the dentist has prescribed you antibiotics before the procedure,,also if it is a long-standing infection or cavity,it ought to pain. The most important thing is that you should inform your dentist if there is too much discomfort during the procedure.

The probable cause of your pain could be anaesthesia failure or severe infection ( pulpitis). In any case the procedure should be much easier in the second visit. Make sure you opt for local anaesthesia and do notify your treating dentist whether you are feeling adequately numb prior to the procedure.
