Pain while chewing after rct and cap
Hi, I had my root canal followed by a cap for my second molar on upper left jaw 2.5 months back. I have pain while I chew any food other than rice and idli. No pain while i am idle. I understand root canal is done properly ( through xrays and second opinion). Not sure what is causing the pain. I am also not able to recognize if its tooth pain or gum/muscle pain. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi If u could attach x ray it ll be helpful to give u better opinion. After root canal treatment few patients will experience pain for 2-3 months and it ll resolve by itself. The reason for the pain could be because of:- 1) Food lodgement around ur cap (gives gum pain and discomfort) "floosing" that area will give u relief.Dont use threads or toothpick to remove any food particles which is stucked.Use only Dental floss 2) Post endodontic pain.(will resolve by itself) 3) High points.(Get it checked n corrected)
Next Steps
Visit ur dental surgeon for physical evaluation.

Hi since your treatment has been very recent kindly check for high points of the cap. If the cap has more height this issue might arise while biting and chewing. If so get the cap adjusted and you should be okay. Start chewing on both sides evenly after, that way you get adjusted to the new cap and the bite is balanced. Also check for any wisdom tooth impinging on the 2nd molar causing pressure or discomfort.
Next Steps
Kindly visit and get a thorough check. Attaching xrays would help us rule out other issues.
