My mother 70 years old is extremely active and does all household works. She even lifts heavy suitcases around and push heavy things here and there. A month back suddenly while twisting and rising from bed she experienced sharp pain in left side mainly below the left rib cage. There is no swelling or pain in touching. she is takin painkiller and calciumfor one month on doc advice who assured twice it's muscle strain. She is up and running all the time and only feels the pain while rising up from bed while on her left side and no pain while walking around or working household, bending anything. To not feel the pain she holds her breathe while rising from bed which causes more discomfort when she release her breathe which i feel is a bad idea. She never takes rest and working all day. How to manage the pain ? She never takes hot or cold packs. The pain is better than initial days but still there. How to get it better? it has been more than a month. she has osteoarthritis and osteoporosis
