My father had a pain in the lower back but it started to extend to his right thigh and now he sometimes feels numb in his thigh, a doctor told him that he need a surgical intervention i need to know if it's necessary

As per the scan he has severe foraminal stenosis on both the sides. He will benefit from surgery.
However he need to be seen clinically once to confirm the need for surgery.
