It can be due to overuse . But if the pain the severe in the morning and with associated stiffness , associated swelling , then a clinical examination will be needed.

If it is involving your dominant hand only then may be due to work related. If involving both hands and more than 6 weeks then u should consult a Rheumatologist to rule out inflammatory pathology.
