Oral submucous fibrosis..
I have taken tobacco for long times...From last five years I have completely quit it...But I used to smoke which I quit one year ago... alcohol I take once or twice a month (moderate)... My mouth opening was 2.5 about 5-6 years ago...now it's about 3.5.. If I take normal food than no burning sensation...but if I consume hot and little spicy foood than there is burning sensation... Inside of my mouth is soft...but bit whitish.. Now doctor prescribed SM fibro twice a day for 60 days... Is it serious? Will it lead to something bad in future??Dentist told me my oral is better position now...But ENT told that there is OSMF which is not reversed completely?? Only feel rubber like band in my right buccal mucasa..(from long time).. Plz guide me

Hi there , Its good to know that your mouth opening has improved . Please continue with SM fibro. Avoid spicy food and green chillies completely. Hope u have also stopped ur tobacco habit . Do vigorous mouth opening excercises with a orabite mouth gag. If it still persists u may need a surgery. Be in regular follow up with ur maxillofacial surgeon.

Hi, firstly you have to stop all your habits immediately. I’ll suggest few home remedies for you.
Next Steps
1. Make turmeric & tulsi leaves paste in glycerin and apply it to affected area everyday. 2. Apply aloe Vera gel or fresh extract to the affected area. 3. Include lycopene containing vegetables in your diet like guava, watermelon, tomato, papaya etc 4. Turmeric water gargles everyday 5. Physiotherapy exercises like muscle relaxation, mouth opening using ice cream sticks or ballooning exercise. 6. MultiVitamin Supplements These are all the additional measures to be taken at home for 6 months to be followed everyday. Meanwhile, keep in touch with your oral surgeon or dentist and follow up regularly.
