CBCT is not required for general check up and never prescribed as a routine test. If oral cancer is suspected a tissue sample is sent for biopsy. That is mandatory for any diagnosis of oral cancer.

General check up usually doesn’t include cbct! It includes opg and IOPA! Why the cbct was adviced? I would like to know that! It does detect anything in the area scanned! If you thing you got cancer? Get an oral medicine specialist to look at you and your scan! Any habit including tobbacco smoke or smokeless should be stopped immediately

It can detect lesions in the jaw if present. If a lesion is reported in the scan, for a confirmatory diagnosis biopsy can be done.
