Hello Docs I think I have problem of OCD this was from before lockdown prob 1 year. However I managed the thoughts by yoga and meditation..now almost bad thougths are nill.but still I wash hands and always feel dirt and I don't think it is due to covid as I have recovered from it now.Only problem right now is I have slight anxiety feels like overburden even with small work.
Now just want to ask why this compulsion is not fading away by meditation?.Or can you give some tricks without medicines to eradicate it completely?? Can meditation be continued for long?

Meditation is not the treatment of OCD. There are only Two ways to treat OCD, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or Medicines. If you don't wish to take Medicines, take CBT Sessions which should help you if your problem is not severe.
Hello there. OCD can be treated with medications or psychotherapy (counselling), but most commonly it's dealt with the combination of both.
Good that your thoughts are controlled. About the compulsion, yoga and meditation doesn not treat compulsions. It requires adequate dose of medications or rigorous behavior therapy called CBT -Cognitive Behaviour therapy (mainly ERP in your case ).
Compulsions cannot to eradicated, but yes definitely controlled and also reduce the distress due to it.
Duration of medication for OCD is dependant on patient condition, severity and cannot be fixed. It can vary from minimum of 1year to upto 3-4 years or more. Usually does not cause problems if taken for long, under doctor's supervision and regular follow ups
Next Steps
kindly consult local Psychiatrist or Teleconsultation and strat on medications
