OCD and hyperself awareness
Hello doctor, I have been dealing with OCD/self-awareness issues for the past few years. My mind constantly analyzes my body, thoughts and behavior, especially around people. For example, when someone I know comes toward me, I start thinking: when to make eye contact, when to look away, whether to smile, what to say, how long to talk, and whether I am behaving normally. I also automatically check my body and facial expressions. It also happens while doing normal work. My mind keeps analyzing how to do the work perfectly, where to look while doing it, whether I am doing it correctly, and how I should move or behave. I have been taking fluoxetine for 25 days, and it has helped a lot. My mind is less noisy and the thoughts are easier to manage, but the constant self-monitoring is still there. You have been taking Fluoxetine for only 25 days, and you are already noticing some improvement. With continued treatment, the symptoms you are describing may also gradually improve over time.
Next Steps
Stay regular with your follow-ups so that your progress can be monitored and further treatment can be adjusted accordingly.

Hi, what you’re describing sounds like a self-monitoring OCD loop. You’re constantly checking your eye contact, expressions, movements, whether you’re behaving normally etc. The more you check, the more aware you become. Since you’ve already noticed that allowing the thoughts works better, take it one step further: stop checking whether you’re doing things correctly. Let the awkwardness or uncertainty be there and continue with what you were doing. Don’t try to behave normally just behave naturally, even if it doesn’t feel perfect. If you want to take online therapy sessions, connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.

Thank you for sharing this. I know it isn't always easy to talk about personal struggles, so I'm glad you reached out. I would recommend a detailed psychiatric consultation to understand the underlying cause and discuss the best treatment plan for you. If you need further guidance or would like to discuss your concerns in detail, feel free to reach on https://topmate.io/drarchana_agarwal/ I'd be happy to help you.
