Blistering and ulceration of the mouth associated with drug can point towards SJS, SJS-TENS Overlap, TENS Syndrome depending on the area of skin/mucous membrane involved
However there are other causes as well such as Vit deficiency, STD's, Vincent Angina, etc.
I would like to sk some questions so that it can help get to the root cause

drug-induced mouth and lip blisters can be extremely painful and sometimes dangerous.
Before giving suggestions, I need to be very clear:
➡️ If the blisters are spreading, or if you have fever, eye redness, or skin peeling elsewhere on the body, go to the ER immediately because this can be an early sign of Stevens–Johnson Syndrome (SJS) which is a medical emergency.
Now, here is the safest and most effective treatment plan you can follow at home only if symptoms are limited to the mouth/lips and you are stable:
✅ 1. STOP the suspected drug immediately
Do NOT take even one more dose.
✅ 2. Medicines that actually help the healing
A. For pain & inflammation
Levocetirizine 5 mg or Cetirizine 10 mg at night
→ Helps reduce allergic reaction and swelling.
If pain is severe:
Paracetamol 500 mg every 6–8 hrs.
✅ 3. Topical treatment for blisters on lips and mouth
These are SAFE and effective:
(A) Mouth ulcers + blisters inside mouth
Hexigel (chlorhexidine 0.2%) mouth gel
Apply 2–3 times daily
Prevents infection and speeds healing
Do not eat/drink for 20 minutes after applying
(B) For severely painful sores
Dologel CT
Apply on the sores before eating
Provides numbing + anti-inflammatory effect
(C) For lips that are blistered, cracked, tight, or peeling
Use one of these (very important):
1️⃣ Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) — safest
Apply very thick layer every 2–3 hours
→ Keeps skin soft, prevents cracking, helps healing
2️⃣ Glycerin + rose water mixture
Apply 3–4 times/day
→ Reduces tightness & burning
3️⃣ Aloe vera gel (pure)
→ Helps soothe blistered skin
(Best if you have plant-extracted gel or pharmacy-grade)
❗ Avoid steroid creams on lips unless doctor sees you
Many lip steroids can worsen infection or thinning.
✅ 4. What NOT to use
Please AVOID:
Betnovate, Panderm, Quadriderm, Lobate, Hydrocortisone (steroid creams)
Toothpaste on sores
Lemon, salt, or spicy foods
Any hot foods or drinks
Scrubbing or peeling the skin
✅ 5. Signs that you MUST go to hospital immediately
If you have any of the following:
Fever
Eye redness or discharge
Skin peeling anywhere other than lips
Rapidly increasing blisters
Difficulty breathing
Mouth opening becomes impossible
Blood-tinged blisters or black discoloration

Hello, I am Dr Romain Rajan, General Physician. Your case has been allotted to me.
I understand your concern. Drug-related mouth allergy with painful blisters and tight skin is very uncomfortable and can worsen quickly if not managed correctly. This usually happens due to a strong hypersensitivity reaction and needs prompt treatment.
Advices
1 Avoid the suspected medicine completely until we identify the exact cause.
2 Drink adequate water and take soft, non-spicy food to avoid further irritation.
3 Keep the mouth area clean and avoid picking or rubbing the blisters.
What to Monitor
1 Increasing pain or difficulty in swallowing.
2 Fever or new rashes elsewhere on the body.
3 Rapid worsening of swelling around lips.
Management
You may apply a mild soothing gel containing aloe vera or glycerin around the lips to reduce dryness and tightness.
However, for active allergic blisters and swelling, you may require a proper anti-allergic medicine and sometimes a short course of anti-inflammatory treatment. These medicines must be selected carefully depending on your medical history and the severity of your reaction.
Do not use random steroid creams or strong ointments without guidance as they can worsen the condition around the lips.
When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
1 If swelling spreads to the tongue or throat.
2 If you develop difficulty breathing.
3 If blisters rapidly increase or if you cannot open your mouth at all.
Every patientâs situation is unique. For accurate diagnosis and lasting relief, it is important to discuss your medical history, the exact medicine taken, and the timeline of symptoms.
You can reach out to me directly for this case and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one on one consultation where you will receive
1 A personalised treatment plan
2 Safe medicine adjustments if required
