My gums have been bleeding since a week
I have had gingivitis twice before and scaling was quite effective. However, this time I want to try home treatment first since both my gums are teeth are very sensitive and scaling is really painful for me (don't want to go unless absolutely necessary). I have been using mouthwash, flossing and brushing twice a day. Is there anything else I can try? How long should I try this home treatment before checking if I definitely need to go for scaling? There are no visible plaque stains near my gums yet, but there are stains on top of my molars. Gums are swollen and red. Bleeding hasn't stopped but has reduced compared to one week back.

I need to know the answer to a couple of questions. A. Do you breathe through your mouth frequently at night? Does your mouth feel dry when you wake up? B. Is the bleeding from a particular region of the mouth or generalized from all gums? C. Is there any vitamin D3 deficiency? From the pictures, it does appear to be gingivitis. It might be that the plaque is below the gums and not visible to you. It's necessary to get a professional scaling and if necessary, deep cleaning. Once that is done and bleeding stops, then you can do regular flossing without missing many days. That way you might solve the problem for a long time.

Hello practo user... You require to know proper brushing technique to maintain good oral hygiene. Plaque is something that even if it not visible on tooth it may be present inside the gums which causes infection and results in swelling and red gums. In your case it's not  gingivitis only. Infection may spread more and can cause severe form of gum infection. For proper diagnosis and treatment consult me in chat box.
