It’s more of viral illness which might take 3-4 days to subside.kindly mention the age and weight of child to know if the dose of paracetamol is appropriate. And can be given every 6 hrly and tepid sponging can also be done.if fever persists for more than 3-4 days consult your paediatrician. You can use nasoclear nasal drops or nasal suction for nose block. Maintain hydration, monitor temperature, any rashes on the body, cough with breathing difficulty, visiting, abdominal pain consult your paediatrician.
Fever, cough and running nose for 1 day are most commonly due to a viral respiratory infection.
Fever may not completely settle after paracetamol; the aim is to keep the child comfortable and well hydrated.
Please let me know her age, weight, highest recorded temperature, and the exact Calpol preparation/strength (e.g. 250 mg/5 mL). The correct paracetamol dose is weight-based, so 5 mL may not be the appropriate dose for every child. Do not give additional medicines containing paracetamol simultaneously.
For now:
Give plenty of fluids and continue normal feeding.
Keep her comfortably dressed; avoid cold-water sponging.
Saline nasal drops and gentle nasal suction can help with the running/blocked nose.
Avoid over-the-counter cough/cold combinations unless advised by a doctor.
Please seek urgent medical assessment if she has difficulty/fast breathing, chest indrawing, bluish lips, unusual drowsiness, seizures, persistent vomiting, inability to drink/poor urine output, or appears seriously unwell.
If fever persists beyond 2–3 days, becomes very high, or symptoms worsen, she should be examined by a pediatrician.
