Most people with a hiatal hernia don't experience any signs or symptoms and won't need treatment. If you experience signs and symptoms, such as recurrent heartburn and acid reflux, you may need medication or surgery. You have used PPI for 8 months and if you have not benefited from thisyou have to discuss with your gastroenterologist .
Next Steps
Surgery is generally used for people who aren't helped by medications to relieve heartburn and acid reflux, or have complications such as severe inflammation or narrowing of the esophagus.

Mucosal prolapse and  Hiatus hernia will need surgery.  Medical treatment can give symptomatic relief for some time. These problems basically have a similar cause factor.  Even diagnosis is overlapping.  So if you are  keen on doing research on yourself then you should try to get the perfect diagnosis.  Otherwise your aim should be to get treatment.
