Mucocele due to accidental lip bit
I bit my mouth accidentally very hard 10 days ago and slowly a lump has developed on my lower lip at the spot. It is not going away. I don't want to go for a surgery. Bit it on the edge of my lips and doesn't look good. Please help me understand 1. If there any medication through which it can be resolved? 2. If not, how long does the surgery take and what is the process? Are stitches necessary? 3. How long should I expect it to dissolve naturally before going for a surgery?

1. No. There’s no medicine to treat a mucocele 2. Hardly 15 min.. a bit will be placed over the swelling and the mucocele will be removed from its base. Stitches will be given to close the cut wound 3. Not possible naturally

It`s an Oral Mucocele.Oral mucocele is a condition that occurs when the salivary glands in the mouth become blocked, resulting in a sac-like swelling filled with mucus. It most commonly appears on the lips. You shouldn’t attempt to get rid of an oral mucocele on your own. Oral mucocele home treatment can cause an infection or damage to your oral tissues. There are various treatment options: -Surgical excision:It is minor surgical procedure after which suture might be required. -Laser treatment. -Cryotherapy.

Mucocele doesn't resolve with medicines. It needs minor surgical procedure. Stitches if needed, will be placed. Do visit a local dentist/Oral and maxillofacial surgeon for physical evaluation and treatment (as required)

Please get the swelling evaluated by a dentist. If it's a mucocele, a small surgery will be required to excise it. Slight discomfort will be present for 2-3 days after the surgery but can be managed by medication.

Hi, I suggest you meet a dentist and get you swelling evaluated clinically. Mucocele cannot be treated with medication alone. The surgery is a short procedure. Sutures will be placed. There will be mild discomfort a 2 to 3 days after the procedure. Sutures will be removed after 5 days.
