Mpfl tear along with patella sublexation
My son had a patella dislocated while he was dancing at a fest . While his patella got relocated back there is slight sublexation . The MRI reports show an mpfl tear . Most probably it is a grade three tear. Do you think conservative treatment will work?

Dear sir , As Orthopaedic & sports medicine Surgeon I can tell u ... Pls put MRI also ... If mpfl torn and after that patela looks subluxated and along with shallow sulcus it's better to be go for primary repair surgery . But if it's is avulsed from patela and no other predisposing factor we can try conservative treatment for month and then evaluate.

So if it’s a complete tear then it needs surgical repair as in almost all the cases there a cartilage lesion associated which is the root cause of pain and adding to it is apprehension of patellar dislocation which hampers daily activities. I think you should go to ORTHOPAEDIC surgeon for the opinion and clinical assessment. Most probably surgery required
