I have an 18 month old kid who recently got vaccinated, post which he got frequent fever. Once the fever subsided, found a tongue bump (white in color) and he is unable to eat properly. What should I do? Also to note is that all vaccinations have not resulted in fever even once in the past. This is the first time with fever and red spot and swelling in the shot area.

Fever can be normal after vaccination. And tongue lesion also seems to be nothing bothering. But vaccine site swelling can be significant based on the time since vaccination was done. An image of the vaccine site could give a better understanding to rule out any abnormality

Better to consult a Pediatrician
Health Tips
Persisting fever and tenderness at the injection site needs further Evaluation
Fever after vaccination is a good symptom - signifies immune response
Red spot and swelling over the vaccination area plus fever - give paracetamol for 2 days, apply cold compresses over the site, see if it helps. Encourage the child to be active, keep playing around to help the vaccination to be absorbed and dispersed - often DPT is painful and troublesome.
Ulcer on the tongue - could be viral - it’s a benign problem - should go away in few days time. Give multivitamin drops, offer cold and soft food to the child. No spices at all. Cold food like custard, banana shakes ( occasional melted ice cream! ) help. Avoid acidic fruits

The white bump sounds like a mouth ulcer or viral sore, possibly post-vaccination or due to a viral illness. Apply a pediatric oral gel like Dologel-CT before feeds and give soft, bland foods. Keep the child well hydrated. If ulcers persist >3–5 days, or if new rashes/fever appear, please see a pediatrician.
