Thumb sucking habit usually vanishes at around 4/5yrs once the kid gains confidence about his surroundings or himself/herself. If not you might have break the habit with few tricks Distract the child when he/she indulges in thumb sucking Try to have a reward game as in whenever he is thumb sucking. Try a reward to stop. Use thumb wraps. Sleeping with mouth may have an underlying medical condition. Check with an ENT for any nasal blocks or sinus that is interfering with his normal breathing
Next Steps
Visit an ENT. A dentist for habit breaking applaince
