Constipation is common in 5 months old.milk of magnesia is safe but please check are you giving a bottle feed or top milk that can cause it.use a glycerine suppository regularly to make passing stools easy for child.glycrine suppository is a small pellet of solid glycerine ,when pushed in the potty passage it melts by body temperature and smooths the presage and makes it easy to pass stools. Giving papaya and honey to mother if exclusively on mother feed should help.
Next Steps
ask your pediatrics that is a thyroid test required.
Health Tips
an active child might normally also pass stool after 5 days.

Not passing stools in 5months baby for 5days  is quite common. As long as the baby is active, no abdominal distension, tolerating breastfeed well, no active intervention needed. Continue exclusive breastfeed for six complete months. Regards
