It depends upon truma intensity, mode of trauma and pain level.it usually take 2 to 4 weeks if you take proper rest.it can heal automatically with rest.if symptoms persist u need to take Orthopaedic opinion.

You have to keep your knee straight in a brace.
Time to heal is 3-4 weeks. But knee bracing may be needed for 6 weeks.
If the meniscus heals then good. If not at you have painful clicks or locking etc then you may need intervention.
