My mother is 73 years old and has several health problems. She had gout in 2023 and suffered an ischemic stroke in may 2026, along with her gout problem. Since her stroke, she has been urinating frequently but only passing a small amount each time, around 40–100 mL. After being discharged from the hospital following stroke treatment, she became dizzy and fell, resulting in a broken rib. She is now experiencing severe pain whenever she moves. Just lying on bed with no improvement since 3 month.medication of stroke is going.
My problem is there is no special or doctor nearby, and my mom seem cannot travelled far due to pain and weakness, don't know which doctor i should see.
Is there anyone who can advise on what i should do or which specialist i should see?

Your mother's condition needs a proper physician review, not just pain medicine. Frequent small-volume urination after a stroke usually means incomplete bladder emptying or urine infection, and in a bed-bound elderly patient this can quietly worsen kidney function. The rib pain plus three months of bed rest also puts her at risk of bedsores, chest infection and clots.I am sorry your mother is going through so much. Frequent small amounts of urine after a stroke usually means either a urine infection or incomplete bladder emptying, so please get a urine routine and culture done and an ultrasound with post-void residual urine if possible. The rib pain after the fall should ease over 4-6 weeks; regular paracetamol as advised by a local doctor, deep breathing exercises and gentle turning in bed every 2 hours are important to prevent chest infection and bed sores. Her stroke and gout medicines must continue without a break, and salt, red meat and alcohol should be avoided for the gout. The right people to see are a general physician or internal medicine doctor first, who can involve a neurologist and physiotherapist; home physiotherapy will help her sit up and move again. Please take her to the nearest hospital urgently if she has fever with chills, no urine, breathlessness, new weakness or slurred speech, or confusion. If travelling is hard, you can book an online consult with me on Practo and we can plan her care and tests step by step.

For broken rib if she has no breathing difficulty a rib belt can be used to immobilize the rib and heal it
Increase frequency of urination is due to uti may be due to previous cathetrization
Do urine if infection present do culture and sensitivity.check blood sugar levels
Can be related to bladder dysfunction, UTI or incomplete emptying her severe pain needs assessment consult me with her discharge summary and current medicines so we can assess the situation and guide the next steps appropriately.
Hello
Since mother was having gout, suffered stroke and had a recent history of rib fracture, first consult a general physician at a tertiary hospital. He will give further instructions and refer to other speciality doctor depending on the severity of the condition. The quicker you consult at super speciality hospital the better her difficulty improves. It may take one or two days for complete checkup. But it is worth.
Your 73-year-old mother with gout and recent ischemic stroke in May 2026 now has two urgent issues: frequent urination of only 40-100 mL which likely indicates post-stroke bladder dysfunction or a urinary infection / cystitis - her ultrasound also showed a thickened 5mm bladder wall - and a broken rib after a fall causing severe pain for 3 months with inability to move, which is longer than expected for healing and raises risk of lung infection, clots, and pressure sores from prolonged bed rest. Since travel is difficult, start with a General Physician who can review her stroke medicines, order a simple urine routine/culture test and a chest X-ray, and then refer to a Neurologist for stroke follow-up and dizziness, Urologist for bladder issue, and Orthopedic for rib pain; meanwhile do not stop stroke medicines, keep her hydrated, help her sit up 30-45 degrees and do deep breathing and ankle movements every few hours, track urine frequency, fever, burning, and breathing difficulty, and seek emergency care if she has fever, breathlessness, leg swelling, blood in urine, or chest pain.
