Maladaptive daydreaming
I am from New delhi. I have this mental condition called maladaptive daydreaming. It is not considered as any psychiatric disorder. Lot of people are suffering from it. Research is still going on this topic. I would like to know if any doctor in India have come across patients who have this condition. I have it and it has made my life miserable as my mind always gets deviated from reality. Some has found fluvoxamine helpful in control maladaptive daydreaming. I searched on Internet but did not find any opinion of indian doctor.

Since it relatively newer in research not very many are aware of it and the diagnostic books that are followed does not consider them nevertheless there are still arguments of whether to consider it a disorder or not. Anyways what I would like to tell you is of you feel it is causing distress hindering your day to day work and functioning it has to be paid attention about the medication what you said is correct but let's wait for a psychiatrist to respond aswell. As a clinical psychologist I would say that if it's meets the criteria of what I said go ahead and seek help asper from a mental health professional.
