Lower back pain
My recent MRI scan report stated "Disc bulge at L5-S1 level with focal annular tear and central extrusion causing compression on traversing nerve root on left side"(picture attached) I was suggested for a surgery by a Neuro Surgeon". But I'm afraid. Is there any alternate way to cure this? Suggestions needed.

Hi there...I can understand your concern. Since the disc bulge is pressing on the nerve it can lead to symptoms like pain, parasthesia, weakness of the involved muscles. These symptoms can get aggrevate overtime. Sometimes conservative measures like physiotherapy can work. But if there's no improvement then surgery will have to be done. You can take a second opinion from an orthopedic or another neurosurgeon if you are unsure.
