Lower back pain & swelling post massage
I got a Swedish massage 10 days ago. I didn't had any kind of discomfort before or during the massage. But from the next day onwards I am having swelling and pain on lower back with discomfort in lying down or sitting for long time. No limbs/neck are affected. I am undergoing treatment for an auto immune disorder and kidneys. I have had considerable weight gain recently due to steroids and my lifestyle has become mostly sedentary from a very active one. Should I wait and see whether pain subsides on its own or should I consult an ortho immediately? Can stretching exercises help me?

If u got pain after massage only. Then just some soft tissue involvement only. Rest and some anti inflammatory medicine for few days.

From ur description of pain nothing looks worrisome.  Just take anti inflammatory medicines for a few days and see.  But yes if the pain persists do consult an orthopedic surgeon

The flare-up of low back pain you are experiencing is likely to settle down on it's own. You might consider taking simple pain killers like Ibuprofen as when needed for the next few days. It is recommended to stay active and engage in simple exercises during this time. Being active and doing gentle exercises actually helps in speeding up the recovery.. If the pain persists beyond 6- 8 week s or if you develop  limb pain , weakness or bowel or bladder incontinence/retention you should consult a specialist.
