Iron is an important ingredient for hb synthesis. In body iron is bound to a protein called ferritin and also in unbound form. When the hb levels and blood iron levels become normal ferritin levels decrease which is very much normal. The opposite happens when iron levels are low, ferritin levels increase, this is to facilitate more iron binding.
Next Steps
Consult a general physician if you want any further explanation.
