My father 73 having adenocarcinoma ,taken chemo previous week under medication cepgard 500. This week from yesterday he is having loos motion taken 2 tablets of lopamide in yesterday afternoon and night, still he had a motion last night 2 o clock, refusing to take food in the fear of having motion again. What to do.

It is very common to have loose motions while taking capecitabine... If it just 3 loose stools per day.. No much fluid loss.. Stop capecitabine.. Give good oral fluids... Give loperamide tablet 2 mg every loose stool (max 8 per day)... Just giving 2 tablets won't stop it...If it is severe diarrhoea go to hospital for admission...other drugs like rececadotril or octreotide can be given if persisting even after giving adequate dose of loperamide...Discuss with your doctor... It will take a few days to become normal
