My sister has cancer and has been receiving a combination of Nab Paclitaxel & carboplatin for the past few months with very good response. Recently, during the chemo infusion, she developed mild rashes on her skin. The infusion was stopped, she was given medication and the rash was resolved. There were no breathing issues, swelling, or abnormal blood pressure.
I want to know is it safe for her to continue with the same combination from next cycle considering very good response she has shown to this combination?

First, You need to rule out any extravasation of the chemotherapy drug .
To continue the same regimen from the next cycle, it should be safe after adequate premedications, dose adjustments if necessary and under strict supervision . For this , clinical assessment of the patient is necessary by your treating doctor .

She has been receiving the nab pacli and Carbo for last few months. So this rash has not occurred in one of later cycles - maybe 3rd or 4th cycle. Paclitaxel can cause rashes and hypersensitivity. But advantage of nab paclitaxel is that this does not commonly cause allergy. I feel it could be because of some other factor.
You can continue the same schedule with Dexamethasone premedication. If further reactions occurs, can stop and consider changing the drug.
She can continue with same protocol for next cycle though prior treatment with anti allergic medications should be given along with cautious post chemo therapy follow up . If she develops skin rash, dyspnoea, or any symptoms pertaining to hypersensitivity, she should consult her oncologist physician immediately.
